If you decide to go with Bell, be my guest: You'll be back to square one with (hopefully) 5mbps and a zillion year contract. If you plan on using your high speed connection with the XBOX LIVE service I would sway away from the RCA modems.Listen here Mr English.
As it stands now I and any new customer to Cogeco do not pay for 5Mbps of dl speed for the Pro package, I NOW pay for 10Mpbs. I think they in no way are up to date on the new modems that do take the speeds. I would like to remove the Cogeco WIFI modem and use our own router. I just swapped to a 315 and will post the results when I get home and hook everything up. (from rca.com) So if you have the pro service, I would definitely suggest the 315.
With the speed a new product comes out and RCA making such a damn good modem who could know unless they stay fast and test test test. I don't want to use the WIFI Modem … I don't have a huge home but we're home a lot more now (who isn't) and with cloud gaming on one tv , streaming on another etc I would like to improve if possible. Looking to improve my coverage in my home, signal strength ,latency etc with Cogeco fibre. I am still trying to get it swaped been talking to them and said if there is no speed up after the swap out with new modem I will buy the new modem outright and go on the Buisness service for a full year paid up front.Incase you guys weren't aware, you're paying NOTHING extra for the 5mbps of service that you're getting.
It is now the obligation of this company to provide 10Mbps to it's Pro Clients. They must have known that the older modems could not take the speed up.I have my RWIN at 75920, I'd say use the Tweak forum to get better technical answers for that. And all this time I was wondering why my max was around 7Mbps...lolThanks for the info I had a feeling that they were just grasping at straws when they said to drop from pro to standerd reboot system and then go back up to pro and reboot again.
We are paying more for this service! Its corporate offices are located at 5 Place Ville-Marie in Montreal, Quebec. The company operates Cogeco Communications Inc. which is structured into three strategic business units (SBU); Cogeco Connexion, Atlantic Broadband, and Cogeco Media. Unfortunately If you were in business for yourself or you ran Cogeco I could tell you, you wouldn't have much of a client base left with that attitude. Yeah this is exactly what I do. Looks like they were just going to lets us go with the slow speeds and keep saying it was on our side and had nothing to do with their gear or service.
The specific spec if you're getting the Pro package is the "performance/throughput" spec for the modem that you need to look at. I didn't even change any RWIN settings or MTU settings.I do wounder why they did not tell the Pro users off the top when they put the speed up.
Would you as a Sales employee for Cogeco tell a new customer/business that "you may not get 10Mbps but we'll charge you for 10 because this is the fastest service available" lol, I just saw you try to pitch that to someone. I just wish they would have swaped out all the people that were on Pro to begin with. There is a little bit of configuring you will have to do (iirc my cogeco equip uses default settings and it's the 3rd party I needed to adjust options on) and if you will be using wireless from the 3rd party device you will add make sure you aren't paying for wireless from cogeco's device as well.Cogeco Inc. is a Canadian media and communications company. I now pay for 10Mbps and as such, I as the customer deserve satisfaction and have the right as a service receipient to demand the full capacity of this service.
Well, I took the modem home, swapped it, and I have effectively gone from 6333 to 9392. Anyone know if a router can be hooked up to these two in one Cogeco units and if it improves the experience ? I have the cogeco modem/router connected to a nice 3rd party router I use for coverage of the whole house. Cogeco On Demand requires a subscription to the TV package containing the associated digital channels.
Argh, I wish he would come today !
The best Modem if you are getting a Pro account is the RCA DCM 315 or 305 of which I understand the installs for Pro will be done using the 315 now. Well now I got a call from Cogeco telling me that the Rca 245 modems can handle the pro service and they will not be swapping out anyWell now that is extremely disappointing to hear from Cogeco. So I guess the RCA DCM315 is the only modem that supports the full 10mbps. The name is an acronym for Compagnie Générale de Communication ("General Communications Company").Press J to jump to the feed. I've heard 2 in 1 units are kinda crap so looking for some advice if possibleYeah this is exactly what I do.
GETTING STARTED Install the Cogeco Wi-Fi app in 3 easy steps: Download the Cogeco Wi-Fi app. Cogeco Inc. is a Canadian telecommunications and media company.
Connect the mobile device to your Cogeco Wi-Fi network. To be quite honest I am not even positive that the Cogeco techs believed me for the first 2 days until I called them back saturday after I switched to the DCM 315 (capable of 38Mpbs throughput) and Explained the Modem Spec specifically I was talking about.I think that 3SGTE is probably more onto something. I'm getting it on wednesday, I might ask for a certain modem, just need your guys input first.Alright, I just wasn't too sure, because I know sometimes people have more problems with certain modems.
Then just don't let them make the decision for you.Hey I have PRO servie and I have the erricosson piprider how can i know if i have same one as you?
