Ethics and compliance Freighter Mars Express has given scientists an entirely new view of the Earth's intriguing neighbour, and is still helping to answer fundamental questions about the geology, atmosphere, surface environment, history of water and potential for life on the Red Planet. These studies used data from the spacecraft's HRSC camera and OMEGA (Observatoire pour la Minéralogie, l'Eau, les Glaces et l'Activité) imaging spectrometer.

Mars Express is helping to answer fundamental questions about the geology, atmosphere, surface environment, history of water and potential for life on Mars.
Launched on 2 June 2003 from Baikonur aboard a Soyuz launcher, the 1,120kg vehicle (including the ill-fated Beagle 2 lander) arrived at the Red Planet on 25 December 2003. Mars Express has given scientists an entirely new view of the Earth's intriguing neighbour, and is still helping to answer fundamental questions about the geology, atmosphere, surface environment, history of water and potential for life on the Red Planet.
